STRONGWOOD is a multi-voice audiobook project based on the mystery novel by St. Paul author Larry Millett.

Seeking a Twin-Cities based actress to portray Addie Strongwood. Addie is in her early 20s and is the main character of the book, a young woman who is on trial for murdering her lover. It’s a challenging role to cast, in that she needs to leave the listener (reader) in doubt as to her guilt or innocence.

Production will begin mid-February. Addie will appear in a majority of the ensemble (courtroom) scenes. These will be recorded at a local studio in Minneapolis. Addie also voices several lengthy solo narration sections that can be recorded in a home studio. NOTE! While a home studio will be considered a significant asset for auditioners, it is not a requirement! There are options!

Compensation: The ensemble studio sessions will be set at the SAG-AFTRA rate, which I believe is currently $187.75/hr with a 2-hour minimum. The solo narration sections will be set at $270.00 per-finished-hour with a 1-hour minimum.

While SAG-AFTRA actresses are encouraged to apply, SAG-AFTRA membership is not necessary for consideration.

To audition, please download PDFs of the full text of the novel and the Addie audition side. The side is the first solo narration section-a newspaper "confessional" written by Addie. Please record at least 5 minutes of the text. The full audition side would run about 13 minutes.

The challenge is to give these articles off the page and give them an immediacy of the moment-they are not being read, but spoken with the urgency of a woman who is fighting for her life. We want Addie to sound as if she’s giving a press conference or address to a radio audience.

It's OK to record your audition on your phone-it doesn't have to be a polished piece of audio. Your performance is what's important. At the same time, do try to record in a quiet environment. Please export your audio audition to mp3 format, title it FIRSTNAME_LASTNAME ADDIE-AUDITION and upload it, along with your CV, to https://audio-visceral.wetransfer.com/. Please observe the naming protocol-otherwise your audition could get lost in the shuffle!

Auditions are due by midnight, Friday January 24.

It's OK to email me if you have a brief question, but I can't say  how long it might take me to respond. My best advice is to read the novel in the audition packet.

If you do email me, please write ADDIE AUDITION QUESTION in the subject line.

Thanks for your consideration!
