Fall Collection of One Acts – Call for Directors, Eden Prairie Players
Eden Prairie Players is seeking directors for our annual production of Fall Collection of One Acts, a one-act festival featuring original local, regional, and international plays.

Fall Collection of One Acts Directors (one per play)
- Evening rehearsals begin on or around August 10
- Performances: September 18, 19, 24, 25, 26 at 7pm and September 20 and 27 at 2pm.
- Stipend: $175
- Prior directing experience is NOT required.
- Must be available for 2 rehearsals per week, production meetings, load-in, dry tech, and strike (after final performance), tech week, with limited conflicts.
- Directors are asked to attend at least one performance per weekend: this is negotiable if there are no conflicts with other availability.
- Limited conflicts will be accepted for tech week.
About the Role
Director –The director oversees an individual one act production. They collaborate with actors, designer, stage manager, etc. to create an artistic vision that communicates the story of the one act script. Prior directing experience is NOT required.
- Fall COA Director Applications will be accepted through 11:59pm on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
- Interviews are held on a rolling basis as we receive qualified applicants, so you are encouraged to apply early.
- Auditions are tentatively set for July 12-14, but there may be flexibility.
Specific job duties:
- Create a cohesive artistic vision for a piece
- Collaborate with designers to ensure each individual element is working to tell the story
- Tech elements for each play are limited, but each director will have time to meet with a lighting/sound designer and stage manager (for the overall production, not each individual play) to build the world of their play.
- Each play has a strict budget of $50 for purchases, as well as access to EPP’s extensive collection of costumes, props, and furniture.
- Note: On some productions, directors may choose to find their own furniture, costumes, sound cues, etc. These choices must be made in collaboration with the production team, to make sure the choices work with the other plays and space.
- If additional props or costumes are needed, those must be approved by the Production Lead, in consultation with City of Eden Prairie staff.
- Attend auditions and make decisions in collaboration with the Theater and Performing Arts Coordinator, Production Lead, and other directors.
- Collaborate with the Stage Manager and Theatre and Performing Arts Coordinator for rehearsal schedules, actor communication, and ensure their production runs smoothly and safely.
- Report to the Theater and Performing Arts Coordinator and the Production Lead any interpersonal issues, complaints, or problematic behavior
- Provide feedback to the Theater and Performing Arts Coordinator at the end of the production about what went well and what could be improved in the process of production.
- This can be in person, virtual, or via feedback form. If done via feedback form, Directors have the option to be anonymous
