Elena’s current news

Heading into final week of rehearsal directing THE LAST FIVE YEARS at Artistry. One of my favorite milestones in the process, when all of the design elements come together to create the whole show. So proud of all the hard work my talented actors have put in over the past weeks, and excited to have our full band join the show.

Biography

Elena Giannetti is a Twin Cities-based director. Her most recent credits include The Last Five Years at Artistry, Coney Island Christmas at Lyric Arts, and A Midsummer Night's Dream at Park Square Theatre. Elena directed and produced the sold out "Audience Encore Favorite" at the 2013 MN Fringe Festival of A Certain Age  (the honest and lighthearted look at what it is to be a woman over 40!). In addition, Elena has worked on mulitple projects as Assistant Director at Park Square Theatre.

Elena is the co-founder of PRIME PRODUCTIONS - a new professional theater company dedicated to Celebrating Women in their Second Act. After their successful launch in May 2017 with the production of Little Wars, PRIME started PRIME Voices: A Series of Staged Readings. Their next production will be in fall of 2018.

Elena is also an actor of stage and film, with recent credits including Brooke Wyeth in Other Desert Cities at BCT, Goneril in King Lear at Park Square Theater, Becca in Rabbit Hole at TRP. She appeared in the 3rd season of the web series Theater People as well as numerous independent films including Recalibrate, Twin Cities, and Bringing It All Back Home. She recently appeared in the third season of ABC's In an Instant.

Elena is a member of SAG-AFTRA.

REVIEWS

A Strange & Separate People, 2013
"Elena Giannetti is heartbreaking as the wife, trying to deal with her autistic son as well as her husband. The script makes her overly cruel and vindictive at her husband’s betrayal, but in Giannetti’s hands, she remains a woman of strong spiritual strength that ultimately proves life-enhancing."   ~  William Randal Beard, Star Tribune

Our Class, 2011
"It's difficult to single out any one performance from the solid ensemble...but Elena Giannetti gives a particularly striking turn as Dora, transitioning from giddy teenager to dissatisfied wife to sudden victim. The scene in which she describes being raped by three former classmates is a compelling mix of bewilderment and horror."  ~  Star Tribune
