Tickets Are Coming to Minnesota Playlist—and It Changes Everything
After five months of development, I'm thrilled to announce what's next for Minnesota Playlist: integrated ticketing. Starting later this spring, theater companies will be able to sell tickets directly through the platform—right alongside the shows you're already posting.
Why Now? Why This?
Minnesota Playlist has been the digital home for Minnesota's theater community for nearly two decades. Show creators can post on our calendar and audience members can find and learn about them. But there's been a gap: once someone finds your production on Playlist, they've had to leave the site to buy tickets elsewhere.
Ticketing closes that gap. It's one fewer click for your audience. It is built right into the shows you post on Playlist. And it's designed to do something bigger: help Playlist become the destination where audiences can learn and connect with performances across the state.
That's the dream. When I purchased Playlist back in 2017, the vision was clear: move beyond being a resource only for theater makers and become a bridge to general audiences. Ticketing is a big piece of that bridge.
How It Works (The Quick Version)
Setting up ticket sales on Playlist is simple:
- For producers: Add ticket information when you set up your show—price, quantity, showtimes. That's it. One small additional step to the show posting process.
- For audiences: They search for your show, see ticket availability and pricing, and check out securely through Stripe.
And here's the flexibility: Playlist doesn't have to be your only ticketing platform. Sell some tickets here, some elsewhere. Use Playlist as your primary platform or as a secondary option alongside another service. You decide.
What's Coming
I'll be pushing the capabilities live later this spring. Over the coming weeks, you'll hear more about the onboarding process, see videos walking through ticket management dashboards, and get details on how to get started.

I'm excited. I hope you are too.
